Book on a Weekend – If you only plan on visiting Salt Lake City for a couple of days, your best time to book a rental car is the weekend. Not only are many rental car rates lower on the weekends, but many rental car companies will offer special weekend deals.

Rent for a Week – If you are going to be in Salt Lake City for at least five days, you will have the best opportunity to save big on your rental. Not only can you secure a great rate by renting a car for this length of time, but you should also be able to find an excellent special that will allow you to save even more money.

Pickup and Return at the Same Time – While it may seem unfair, if you pick up a rental car at 10AM one day, and return it at 1PM on another day, you may pay significantly more than if you returned it at 10AM as well. Because of the way that rental car companies bill for their vehicles, picking up and returning at the same time is the best way to ensure you don’t end up paying more than you should.

Bring Your Own GPS – If you rent a GPS from a rental car company, it can cost you to $10 to $20 a day. Even for a three day trip, this can add an additional $60 to your total! To avoid this fee, simply bring your own GPS to use during your time in Salt Lake City.

Fill Up Your Tank – Rental car companies charge a lot of money for gas, so before you return your vehicle, be sure that you take five minutes to fill up the tank.
